outdoor LED strip
Indoor LED strip has become the most versatile and accessible lighting tool for residential and commercial renovation and construction. Its flexibility, thinness (under 3mm for the strip alone) and ability to integrate into spaces impossible to reach with a conventional fixture open infinite creative possibilities. Kitchen under-cabinets, living room coves, stair risers, bar counter undersides, built-in bookshelves, wall niches, headboards — wherever a targeted thread of light improves the space, indoor LED strip is the answer. LEDCO offers 24V CRI 90+ strips in multiple densities and color temperatures, combinable with custom aluminum profiles for a clean, lasting installation.
Kitchen under-cabinets: the flagship application
Under-cabinet kitchen lighting is the most popular indoor LED strip application — it simultaneously improves countertop functionality, overall kitchen aesthetics and the perceived value of the home. A poorly lit kitchen counter forces the user to work in cabinet shadow, which is both uncomfortable and dangerous when cutting. A neutral white 3500–4000K, CRI 90+ LED strip installed in an aluminum profile with frosted diffuser under each cabinet unit projects uniform light across the entire work surface without glare or reflections on glossy countertops. Recommended power for functional under-cabinet lighting is 8–12 W/m, producing 700–1000 lumens per meter — sufficient to achieve 200–300 lux on the counter 40–50 cm below. For a standard kitchen with 3 linear meters of lower cabinets, total system consumption doesn't exceed 25–35 watts — less than a traditional 40-watt bulb, for a luminously superior result.
Cove and indirect ceiling lighting
Cove lighting consists of concealing an LED strip in a molding, dropped ceiling or groove at the top of a wall to project light toward the ceiling or wall — creating an indirect light halo that bathes the room in soft ambiance with no visible source. This effect, once reserved for luxury hotels and restaurants, is now accessible in residential renovation thanks to aluminum cove profiles. Warm white 2700K or 3000K LED strip, 10–15 W/m, installed in an aluminum cove profile mounted at the top of the wall, projects light toward the ceiling and creates a very soothing "luminous sky" effect in living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms.
Interior staircases: safety and design
Lighting interior stair treads with LED strips recessed in aluminum profiles under each nosing is one of the strongest trends in contemporary residential renovation in Quebec. The mini-recessed aluminum profile, 8–12mm wide, fits into a routed groove in the tread nose wood — invisible during the day, it reveals a thread of floor-level light when activated, guiding nighttime movement safely. A motion sensor at the bottom and top of the staircase automatically activates lighting upon passage, and a programmed dimmer maintains treads at 10% brightness at night to avoid blinding during nocturnal use.
Bookshelves, display cabinets and retail shelving
In built-in bookshelves, display cabinet furniture and retail presentation shelving, a high-density (120 LEDs/m) CRI 90+ LED strip installed in a slim profile under each shelf showcases objects, books, collections and products with color-faithful light. Color temperature is chosen by context: warm white 3000K for residential spaces and lifestyle boutiques, neutral white 4000K for retail stores and showrooms where color accuracy is paramount. LEDCO's Builder tool allows ordering strips and profiles to each shelf's exact dimensions. Contact our team for custom interior lighting advice.
