LED CEILING LIGHTS

Well-chosen LED ceiling lights do all the work in a room: they light it, they show it off, then they fade into the background. The right fixture depends first on the ceiling itself: residential drywall, a suspended tile ceiling, an architectural bulkhead or a high ceiling. LEDCO covers all four, from 3 and 4-inch recessed lights to 2x2 and 2x4 panels, all the way to 400 W high bays, for homes and businesses alike.

3 or 4-inch recessed lights: the most versatile LED ceiling lights

The recessed light is still the foundation of a good ceiling: it disappears into the drywall and shows only the light. Our DLX, DLS and DLF series cover the living room, the bedroom, the hallway and the home office, round or square, in 3 or 4 inches. For a higher ceiling, the DLS-HP 4" 15 W recessed light delivers more light through the same diameter. Commercial projects will find the 10 W to 40 W round recessed light and the linear recessed light in our LED ceiling downlights.

Trimless or in colour: recessed lights that change the look of the ceiling

The DLT 4" trimless recessed light, round or square, sits flush with the drywall: no trim ring, just a clean opening of light. At the other end, RGBW recessed lights such as the DLF 4" slim or the DLS 4" RGBW-CCT add colour to white: a family room, a home theatre basement or a bar can change mood without changing fixtures.

Surface ceiling lights: when you would rather not cut the ceiling

In a renovation where the ceiling is finished, or in a closet, a surface fixture goes where the old one used to be. The 12" 24 W 5CCT dimmable LED ceiling light lets you choose among five colour temperatures and dims down; it also comes in 9 and 13 inches, and a 15 W model is designed for closets. The full range is in our surface-mount LED ceiling lights.

LED strips in a bulkhead: a glowing ceiling with no visible source

LED strips set in aluminum profiles inside a bulkhead or a crown cove create the most sought-after effect in interior design: light bounces off the main ceiling, soft and enveloping, with no visible source. That is how LED strip lights for ceiling coves turn a living room, a restaurant or a reception area into a glowing space. Aim for 2700 K or 3000 K at home, 4000 K in a commercial space.

No need to cut a roll yourself: in our custom design tool, you enter the length of each side of the bulkhead, and we build the strip, or the profile with its strip, to that size, ready to install. The tool sends you a detailed quote, with no payment.

Suspended tile ceilings: 1x4, 2x2 and 2x4 panels

In offices, clinics, schools and stores with a suspended ceiling, LED panels are the go-to LED drop ceiling lights: they take the place of old fluorescent fixtures without touching the grid. Our 1x4, 2x2 and 2x4 panels accept 120 V to 347 V and offer three selectable colour temperatures. To keep existing fixtures, T8 LED tubes replace the fluorescent tubes; for a longer-lasting result, an integrated LED fixture replaces the whole unit.

Ceilings of 12 feet and up: LED high bays

Warehouses, big-box stores, gymnasiums and lobbies call for a different class of fixture. LED high bays, in UFO or linear format, range from 85 W to 400 W and run on 120 V to 347 V. Bluetooth PIR or microwave sensors can be added for variable-occupancy zones: the light dims or switches off when the aisle is empty.

Which LED ceiling lighting for which room

  • Living room, bedroom, hallway: dimmable 3 or 4-inch recessed lights, in 2700 K to 3000 K.
  • Kitchen and home office: recessed lights in 4000 K, plus task lighting over the work areas.
  • Drop ceiling with a bulkhead: LED strip in an aluminum profile, in 3000 K.
  • Office with a suspended ceiling: 2x2 or 2x4 panels in 4000 K.
  • Boutique or gallery: adjustable LED track spotlights, CRI 90 or more, in 3000 K.
  • Warehouse or big-box store: high bays in 5000 K.

Technical tips for ceiling lighting

Choose according to the ceiling first. Drywall, suspended tiles, bulkhead or high ceiling: each has its own family of fixtures.

One colour temperature per room. 3000 K recessed lights next to a 4000 K ceiling fixture give a two-tone room that is noticed right away.

Aim for a CRI of 90 or more. In a dining room, a vanity or a showroom, colour fidelity matters as much as the amount of light.

Bring in the walls. LED wall light fixtures soften the shadows of lighting that comes only from the ceiling.

Add a sensor in low-traffic zones. In a warehouse or an aisle, light that switches off by itself cuts consumption.

LED Ceiling Lights FAQ

What are the best LED lights for a kitchen ceiling?

A base of 4000 K recessed lights spread across the whole room, then task lighting over the island and the counter. Keep a single colour temperature for the whole kitchen, and a high CRI so food keeps its true colours.

Can I put recessed can lights in a drop ceiling?

Yes, but in a tile ceiling an LED panel is often simpler: it takes the place of a whole tile, with no cutting. Recessed lights make sense when you want points of light rather than a glowing surface, for example in a lobby or a waiting room.

Recessed light or surface fixture: which should I choose?

A recessed light fades away and spreads light over several points, but it means cutting the ceiling. A surface LED ceiling light mounts on the existing electrical box and lights a whole room from a single point. In a renovation with no access above the ceiling, the surface fixture wins; in new construction, the recessed light.

How do I get a glowing LED ceiling?

The most common way is to set an LED strip in an aluminum profile inside a bulkhead: the light hits the ceiling instead of the room, and the ceiling itself seems to glow. Our design tool builds the pieces to your lengths; for a more complex project, contact us before ordering.

What are the best LED ceiling lights?

The ones matched to the ceiling first: recessed lights in drywall, panels in a suspended ceiling, strips in a bulkhead, high bays above 12 feet. Then the colour temperature: 2700 K to 3000 K for living spaces and bedrooms, 4000 K for kitchens, offices and stores, 5000 K for warehouses. 5CCT fixtures let you pick the shade at installation.
