LED SHED LIGHTS
Good shed lights make the difference between a shed where you fumble for your tools in the dark and a real little workshop. You need bright, even light on the workbench, fixtures that stand up to dust, humidity and the cold of an unheated building, and sometimes a solution that works without any electrical wiring. LEDCO offers 2, 3 and 4-foot shop lights, a workshop fixture, vapour-tight fixtures, under-shelf lighting and solar fixtures.
Three things to settle before you choose
A garden shed, an equipment shed and a Saturday-morning workshop don't need the same thing. Before you look at models, settle these three points:
- The area: the length of the shed determines the length of the shop lights and how many you need.
- The power supply: with no electricity, solar fixtures take over on the outside.
- The use: storage, tinkering or a serious workshop, the use sets the output and the colour temperature.
These three points almost always lead to the same combination: general lighting on the ceiling, a light dedicated to the workbench and, if needed, a fixture outside above the door.
The 36W 46'' linear workshop fixture: light for the workbench
The 46-inch linear workshop fixture is designed for the spot where the real work happens: above the workbench, the mitre saw or the potting table. Its elongated shape spreads light across the whole work surface, which reduces the shadows cast by your hands and tools. A misplaced blade or a misread measurement is often a lighting problem. It belongs to our integrated LED fixtures: the LED source is built into the housing, so there is no tube or bulb to replace.
Wraparound LED shop lights: general lighting for the shed
To light the whole shed, the LED shop light with a wraparound diffuser is the most common solution. It surface-mounts to the ceiling or under the joists, with no suspended ceiling, and its diffuser sends light downward as well as to the sides, which also lights the shelves and storage walls.
Choose the length to suit the space: the 2-foot LED shop light for a small garden shed, the 3-foot 5CCT model for a mid-sized shed and the 4-foot wraparound for a longer workshop. With five colour temperatures, the 3-foot model adapts to the use: a warmer white for a shed that doubles as a place to relax, a cooler white to make out the grain of a board or the thread of a screw.
Vapour-tight fixtures: for a damp or unheated shed
A shed is not a room in the house: in winter it freezes, in spring condensation sets in, and wood or potting-soil dust gets everywhere. Under these conditions, the 4' 3CCT LED vapour-tight fixture is a safe choice, since its closed housing protects the light source from humidity and dust. For a large garage workshop or an equipment shed, the 4' 60W multi-watt NEMA 4X vapour-tight fixture delivers more output, and the 8-foot vapour-tight version covers long bays with a single unit.
Cabinet lights: under shelves and in tool cabinets
Shelves loaded with paint cans, hardware and boxes of screws create shadowy areas that the ceiling light can't reach. A CCT linear cabinet light mounted under a shelf, or the 3CCT cabinet model, lights up exactly what sits below: you find the right drill bit without moving everything. It also makes an effective task light above a small work surface or a sharpening station.
A shed with no electricity: solar wall packs and floodlights
Many sheds are not connected to the grid, and running a wire to the back of the lot means significant work. Solar LED fixtures meet that need, and they make the simplest outdoor shed lights. The 15W solar LED wall pack and the 20W mini solar wall pack mount on the outside wall above the door: you arrive with your arms full after dark and find the lock on the first try.
To light a wider area, such as the space in front of the double doors or the firewood stacked along the wall, the 30W CCT hybrid solar LED floodlight and its 50W version are a better fit. The 20W 4000K solar floodlight covers a smaller area, and the solar bollard marks the path with no cable to bury.
Technical tips for choosing shed lights
One fixture per job. The shop light lights the room and the workshop fixture lights the bench: a single ceiling light in the middle always leaves the bench in your shadow.
Closed and sealed if the shed freezes. Condensation and dust call for a closed housing like that of the vapour-tight fixtures.
A cooler white for working. It helps you read a measurement and make out details; keep warm white for a relaxing corner.
Solar goes outside, above the door. That is where it lights the entrance and the path leading to it.
Count fixtures from the dimensions. Our team can help you work out the right number for your shed or workshop: contact us with its measurements. For a finished shed with a flat ceiling, LED panel lights are another option.

Shed Lighting FAQ
What are the best shed lights?
The ones that match how you use the shed. For general lighting, a 2, 3 or 4-foot wraparound shop light depending on the length; for the workbench, the 46-inch workshop fixture. If the shed is damp or unheated, move up to the vapour-tight fixture.
Which fixture works inside an unheated shed?
The 4' 3CCT LED vapour-tight fixture, whose closed housing protects the light source from condensation and dust. For a dry shed, the wraparound shop light is enough and also lights the storage walls.
Can shed lights work without electricity?
Yes, on the outside: the 15W solar wall pack or the 20W mini solar wall pack mounts above the door, and the hybrid solar floodlights light the surroundings. There is no wire to run to the back of the lot.
What outdoor lighting suits a garden shed?
A wall pack above the door for the entrance, and a floodlight for the area in front of the double doors or the yard. If the shed sits along a path or a garden staircase, the 1W solar stair light and the solar bollard complete the setup.
How many lights does a storage shed need?
It depends on the length and the use. A single 2-foot shop light is often enough for a small garden shed; a longer workshop calls for 4-foot shop lights and a light dedicated to the workbench. Send us the dimensions and we will suggest the right LED lights for your shed.
