LED AGRICULTURAL LIGHTS

Good agricultural LED lighting has to hold up where ordinary fixtures give out: high humidity, dust, ammonia vapour, wash-downs and temperature swings. From the barn to the machinery shed, from the farm yard to the remote outbuilding, LEDCO supplies vapour-tight fixtures, high bays up to 400 W, wall packs and floodlights, most of them rated 120 V to 347 V, for producers in Quebec and across Canada.

Vapour-tight fixtures: agricultural LED lighting for livestock barns

In a dairy barn, a hog barn or a poultry house, the fixture has to withstand wash-downs and vapours. A vapour-tight fixture, sealed from end to end, keeps water, dust and humidity out of the housing. The 4' 60W multi-watt LED vapour-tight fixture carries a NEMA 4X rating, the one for enclosures that are watertight against hose-directed water and corrosion-resistant. For long alleys, the 8' CCT LED vapour-tight fixture covers more floor per unit. The full range is in our agricultural LED lighting category.

LED high bays: tall barns and machinery sheds

Under a high ceiling, whether a barn, a machinery shed or a grain storage building, LED high bays are the benchmark fixture. In compact UFO or linear format, from 85 W to 400 W, at 120 V to 347 V, they are a clear upgrade from old metal halide lamps and fluorescents that struggle in the cold. A PIR or microwave sensor can be added: the light comes on only when someone walks into the building.

T8 tubes and wraparounds: converting old fixtures

In a milk house, a milking parlour or a low-ceiling workshop, T8 LED tubes replace the fluorescents in the existing fixtures, without changing the housings. For a longer-lasting result, a complete fixture takes the place of the old one: the 8' LED wraparound, at 120 V to 347 V, offers five colour temperatures, and the 36W 46'' LED linear workshop fixture suits the workbench. The full range is in our integrated LED fixtures.

Poultry houses: light that dims

In poultry production, lighting affects the birds' rhythm: gradual dimming simulates dawn and dusk to reduce stress. Choose 0-10V dimmable fixtures, to be checked on each model's spec sheet, and control them with the Bluetooth 0-10V wireless fixture controller or a Bluetooth PIR sensor with 0-10V dimming. Even light, with no dark zones, matters as much as intensity.

Farm yard lights and entrances: wall packs and floodlights

Safety on the farm starts outside: barn entrances, the yard, alleys between buildings, the loading area. LED wall packs light the walls of barns and sheds; the full cut-off version sends all the light downward. LED floodlights mounted up high cover the yard, livestock pens and grain receiving. Next to a service door, one of our LED wall light fixtures is often enough.

Remote building with no power: the solar wall pack

A shed at the end of the field, an equipment shelter or a pen far from the electrical panel does not always have power. The 15W solar LED wall pack and the 20W mini solar wall pack install with no trench and no wiring: the panel captures light by day, the fixture lights up at night.

Which fixture for which building

  • Dairy barn, hog barn, poultry house: vapour-tight fixture, for wash-downs and vapours.
  • Tall barn and machinery shed: UFO or linear high bay, with a sensor.
  • Workshop and milking parlour: wraparound fixture or T8 tubes.
  • Office and break room: LED panels in the suspended ceiling.
  • Yard, entrances and loading dock: wall packs and floodlights.
  • Remote shed: solar wall pack.

Office, milk house and safety: panels and emergency lighting

Modern farms often include an office, a break room or a processing area. 2x2 and 2x4 LED panels provide uniform general lighting there. In a building where employees work, also plan for LED emergency lights and exit signs.

Technical tips for agricultural lighting

Vapour-tight in livestock barns, always. Ammonia and wash-downs quickly damage an open fixture; a sealed housing is not optional.

Check the voltage of each model. Most of our fixtures accept 120 V to 347 V, but not all of them: the range is on every spec sheet.

A sensor in rarely used buildings. A barn or shed where you spend a few minutes does not need to stay lit all night.

Aim for uniformity. Dark zones between two fixtures disturb the animals and hide obstacles from workers.

Point outdoor light at the ground. A full cut-off wall pack lights the yard without dazzling drivers or neighbours.

Agricultural LED Lighting FAQ

What are the best LED barn lights?

A vapour-tight fixture, sealed from end to end, that withstands wash-downs, humidity and ammonia vapour. The 4' 60W vapour-tight fixture, rated NEMA 4X, is designed for that kind of environment. Under a high ceiling, a high bay takes over.

What are the best LED lights for farm yards?

Wall packs on the building walls, preferably full cut-off to send the light toward the ground, and floodlights mounted up high for large areas. For a building with no power, the solar wall pack saves running a wire.

What is the best LED lighting for a commercial broiler farm?

A vapour-tight fixture, for wash-downs, that dims on 0-10V, to simulate dawn and dusk. Check the dimming on each model's spec sheet and plan for a control, such as the Bluetooth 0-10V controller.

Can I light a remote building with no electricity?

Yes. The 15W solar LED wall pack and the 20W mini solar wall pack work with no hookup: the panel charges by day and the fixture lights at night, with no trench and no wiring.

Can you prepare a lighting plan for my farm?

Yes. A plan takes into account the ceiling height, the constraints of the environment, humidity, ammonia, dust, and the light level you need. Contact our team with the list of your buildings and their dimensions: we will prepare a quote for your agricultural LED lighting project.
