LED FACTORY LIGHTS
In a factory, good LED factory lighting is chosen station by station. The production line, the assembly bench, the inspection table, the mezzanine and the wash-down area have neither the same ceiling height, nor the same visibility requirements, nor the same hours of occupancy. LEDCO supports plant managers, engineers and contractors with the fixture for each station: linear and UFO high bays for production, a 36 W, 46" workshop fixture for the bench, wraparound fixtures, NEMA 4X vapour-tight fixtures and sensor controls.
Station 1, the production line: the linear high bay along the work
From 12 feet of ceiling up, LED high bays are the backbone of factory lighting. Above a production line or a racking aisle, the 200W-230W-270W linear LED highbay stretches the light in the direction of the work, and the 85W-100W-130W-155W and 320W-360W-400W versions suit lower or higher ceilings. These fixtures operate at 120V-347V, which suits industrial electrical installations.
Station 2, the open area and sorting zone: the UFO high bay
In an open area with no guiding line, the 180W-200W-240W LED UFO highbay spreads light all around each suspension point. Since each model covers three selectable wattages, you set the amount of light to the mounting height without changing part numbers, and you keep one model from one bay to the next. Our accomplishments show examples, including a factory equipped with 240 W high bays.
Which fixture for which workstation
Here is a tour of a typical plant, station by station, with the fixture we propose for each:
- Production line: linear high bay aligned with the line.
- Sorting or shipping zone: UFO high bay in the open area.
- Bench and assembly station: linear workshop fixture, close to the task.
- Inspection table: 5000 K light, custom fixture at the length of the table.
- Mezzanine and parts room: wraparound fixture under a low ceiling.
- Wash-down area: vapour-tight fixture with a sealed housing.
Station 3, the bench: the 36 W, 46" linear workshop fixture
At the workstation, light must fall directly on the task. The 36W 46" LED linear workshop fixture installs above a workbench, an assembly table or a repair station, closer to the task than a high bay, which limits the shadows the operator casts on their own work. For a complete workshop rather than a single station, our page on LED workshop lighting covers the subject.
Station 4, inspection and quality control: 5000 K and the exact length
For colour temperature, 4000K offers good general comfort, and 5000K is preferable for precision work such as fine mechanics, quality control or welding. For an inspection table or a station whose length matches no standard format, LEDCO manufactures linear LED fixtures to exact dimensions, to be prepared with the custom Configurator: you enter the length, and the shop assembles the profile, the strip and the power supply.
Station 5, the mezzanine and parts room: the 8 ft wraparound
Under a mezzanine, in a parts room, a locker room or a service corridor, the ceiling often drops below 10 feet, too low for a high bay. The 8' LED wraparound, 65/75/90W, 5CCT covers a long row with a single unit, and the 2', 3' and 4' wraparounds complete the smaller rooms. The choice of wattage and of five colour temperatures lets you use the same model from one zone to the next and simplifies the spare parts inventory.
Station 6, the wash-down area: the NEMA 4X vapour-tight fixture
Wash-down areas, food processing zones and dusty sectors call for an enclosed fixture. The 4' 60W multi-watt 120-347V NEMA 4X LED vapour-tight fixture and the 8' CCT LED vaportight fixture keep their components sheltered from water and dust, and their linear shape lines up above the equipment.
Between stations: sensors, docks and emergency exits
A factory always has lightly occupied zones: storage aisles, reduced night shifts, receiving areas between deliveries. The PIR Bluetooth sensor for LED highbay or the microwave sensor for LED highbay, adjustable with its remote, dims the lighting when no one is in the zone and instantly brings it back to full power when someone passes. To group several fixtures under one control, the Bluetooth 0-10V power pack with 20A relay drives the circuit.
At the receiving and shipping docks, LED wall packs light the doors and the manoeuvring area. To complete building safety, the exit signs and remote heads in our LED emergency lights fit into the same project, following the evacuation plan approved by your engineer.
Technical tips for LED factory lighting, station by station
Start from the plan with the ceiling heights. The height of each zone is what decides between high bay, wraparound and bench fixture.
Bring the light closer to the task. A fixture above the bench avoids the shadows a distant high bay cannot correct.
Keep 5000K for precision stations. Elsewhere, 4000K is easier on the eyes over a full shift.
A sealed housing wherever it splashes. Wash-down, food, dust: the vapour-tight fixture is not optional.
Put transit zones on sensors. Receiving, aisles and mezzanines do not need to stay lit between two passages.
Contact LEDCO for advice on your factory project, a zone-by-zone assessment of your needs or a quote request. A building plan showing the ceiling heights is enough to get started; for the overview by type of building, see also our industrial LED lighting page.

LED factory lighting FAQ
Do I need the same fixture everywhere in the factory?
No, and it is the most common mistake we see in a plant. The production line, the bench, the mezzanine and the wash-down area have different heights and needs. Within a single zone, however, one model in several wattages simplifies maintenance.
Linear or UFO above a production line?
Linear: it stretches the light along the line and limits shadows between stations. The UFO spreads light all around its suspension point, which suits an open sorting or shipping area better.
Which colour temperature for a quality control station?
5000K, a cooler white that helps fine mechanics, quality control and welding. For the plant as a whole, 4000K offers better general comfort over a full shift.
What goes under a low mezzanine ceiling?
A high bay would glare there. The 8-foot wraparound, in 65W-75W-90W and five shades of white, covers a long row with a single unit, and the 2, 3 and 4-foot formats complete the smaller rooms.
Can LED factory lighting be built to the length of my table?
Yes. With the custom Configurator, you enter the exact length of the station or inspection table, and LEDCO builds the linear LED fixture to that dimension, profile, strip and power supply included.
