COMMERCIAL LED LIGHTING
In a building, commercial LED lighting is chosen zone by zone: the suspended ceiling of the sales floor, the back room and the mechanical room, the high-ceiling warehouse, the corridors, the façade and the canopy. A successful project starts with the ceiling and the use of each room, not with the catalogue. LEDCO brings together panels, wraparounds, vapour-tight fixtures, T8 tubes, high bays, wall packs, canopy lights and emergency lighting, most of them in 120-347 V. This page walks through the building, from the inside out.
Sales floor and offices: the suspended ceiling
In offices, retail stores, clinics and institutions, the acoustic tile ceiling is still the norm. Ceiling LED panels in 2 × 2 and 2 × 4 feet take the place of old fluorescent fixtures in the grid, without changing the structure. Their flat surface gives uniform light, with no bright spots. Where light has to be aimed at merchandise or a display wall, LED ceiling track lighting complements the panels: the heads move when the layout changes, with no rewiring.
Back room and mechanical room: wraparounds and vapour-tight fixtures
Behind the counter, the needs change: stockroom, staff room, electrical room, mechanical room. Integrated LED fixtures are simpler there than a tube fixture, since the LED source is part of the fixture. The 4-foot LED wraparound surface-mounts on the ceiling of a stockroom or a service corridor; the same family also comes in 2, 3 and 8 feet. In a damp or dusty room, choose the 4' 60 W multi-watt LED vapour-tight fixture instead, rated NEMA 4X and available in 120-347 V.
Existing fixtures: T8 LED tubes, type A or type B
Many buildings still have dozens of fluorescent fixtures in good condition. Replacing only the tubes with T8 LED tubes is then the most economical of commercial lighting retrofits: the fixture stays in place and the work moves room by room. LEDCO offers 2, 4 and 8-foot tubes, including the 4' T8 LED tube in 11.5 W, 14 W or 16 W. Some tubes run on the existing ballast (type A), others connect once the ballast is removed (type B): check the ballast before ordering, and our team will confirm compatibility with you.
Warehouse and high ceilings: UFO or linear high bays
Warehouse, hardware store, high showroom: as soon as the ceiling goes up, LED high bays take over. The UFO format, round and compact, suits aisles and open areas, from 90 W to 300 W depending on the model. The linear format, from 85 W to 400 W, spreads light along its length and covers long work areas more evenly. Where people only pass through now and then, a Bluetooth PIR sensor for high bays switches the fixtures on only when someone is there.
Corridors and stairs: exit signs and emergency lighting
No building is complete without its LED emergency lighting. LEDCO offers "Running Man" exit signs in plastic or metal housings, in single or combo versions, such as the metal Running Man combo exit sign, as well as emergency lights and single or double remote heads to extend coverage. Their location follows the evacuation plan: your electrician or building professional remains the reference for compliance.
Façade, doors and dock: which wall pack where
Outside, LED wall packs mount on the wall to light entrances, service doors, loading docks and the adjacent parking lot. Each model has its place:
- Above a door: the doorway wall pack, from 9 W to 30 W.
- Near neighbours or the street: the full cut-off, which sends all the light toward the ground.
- Toward a specific area: the adjustable model, aimed at the zone to cover.
- On a shed with no power: the 15 W or 20 W solar wall pack.
Canopy and drop-off area: the adjustable canopy light
Under a canopy, an overhang, a drop-off area or a covered parking lot, the fixture has to stay discreet while lighting the ground well. The LED canopy light adjusts to 25 W, 40 W or 60 W and to 3000 K, 4000 K or 5000 K. A single model can serve several buildings, set according to the mounting height.
Technical tips for choosing commercial LED lighting
Start with the ceiling, not the catalogue. Suspended tiles, finished drywall, open structure or high ceiling: the ceiling type already rules out half the options.
Check the ballast before the tubes. A type A tube and a type B tube are not wired the same way in a fixture.
Standardize the models. A fixture with selectable wattage and colour temperature works across several buildings and simplifies spare parts.
Vapour-tight wherever there is water or dust. Mechanical room, car wash or wash bay: a sealed housing is not optional.
A sensor in low-traffic zones. Stockroom, warehouse and mechanical room do not need to stay lit all day.
Commercial light fixtures often sit alongside more architectural lighting, such as the Marché Ariya sign, made with the #94 profile, the Yoko Luna restaurant or Le Lunetier, shown in our accomplishments.

Commercial LED Lighting FAQ
Which commercial LED ceiling lights go in a suspended ceiling?
LED panels in 2 × 2 and 2 × 4 feet take the place of old fluorescent fixtures in the grid, without touching the structure. To highlight merchandise, add track lighting.
T8 LED tube or wraparound: which is better for a retrofit?
If the fluorescent fixtures are in good condition, the T8 LED tube is the most economical route. If they are worn, or if the room is damp, an integrated wraparound or a vapour-tight fixture replaces the whole unit.
Do I need to remove the ballast to install a T8 LED tube?
It depends on the tube. A type A tube runs on the existing ballast; a type B tube connects once it is removed. Check your fixtures, then our team will confirm compatibility with you.
Which commercial light fixtures for a store façade?
A doorway wall pack above each door, full cut-off models along the parking lot to keep the light on the ground, and a canopy light under the overhang. Most are available in 120-347 V.
Can you help us with a complete commercial LED lighting project?
Yes. For a non-standard linear fixture, the custom design tool assembles the profile and the LED strip at the length you need. And to walk through your building, zone by zone, contact the LEDCO team: we will help you choose the models, wattages and colour temperatures.
