OUTDOOR LED STRING LIGHTS LAC BROME
Outdoor LED string lights have transformed how patios, gardens, decks and commercial outdoor spaces are illuminated. Unlike traditional incandescent string lights that consume 5 to 7W per bulb, LED S14, G40 and G50 string lights draw less than 1W per bulb while delivering warm, inviting light with a lifespan of 25,000 to 50,000 hours. LEDCO offers IP44 and IP65 outdoor LED string lights in a variety of configurations, shipped across Canada.
S14, G40, G50 Bulbs — Vintage Aesthetic and Warm Light
Edison-style LED bulbs for outdoor string lights come in three main formats. The S14 (elongated tubular bulb) is the most popular in commercial settings — cafés, breweries, restaurant patios — for its industrial look and weather resistance. The G40 (40 mm globe) and G50 (50 mm globe) are preferred for residential gardens and events where the decorative aspect is the priority. At 2700K to 3000K, the warm light from these bulbs creates a soft, welcoming ambiance comparable to incandescent Edison string lights, but with 85 percent less energy consumption. Flex neon strips and indoor LED strips can complement string light installations in areas where directional lighting is also needed.
Plug-and-Play Expandable — No Electrician Required
One of the greatest advantages of modern LED string lights is their series-expandable design: one main power cord with a standard plug, and string sections link end-to-end via weatherproof connectors. The maximum length per circuit depends on total bulb wattage — as a general rule, 25 to 50 LED bulbs at 1W each per 15A circuit to maintain a safety margin. To cover an L-shaped restaurant patio 20 metres long, connect two 10-metre segments with waterproof extension cables — no electrical panel work needed. Aluminum profiles can guide and protect the cable in traffic areas or along wooden structures.
Café and Restaurant Patios — Professional Ambiance Lighting
Outdoor LED string lights are the number one ambient lighting tool for restaurateurs and café owners across Canada. Suspended in festoons between posts or walls at 2.5 to 3.5 m height, they create a visual luminous ceiling that defines the patio space without a physical barrier. Recommended bulb spacing is 30 cm (S14 format) to 45 cm (G50 format) for uniform output. At 2700K, the effect is warm and romantic ideal for restaurants and bars; at 3000K, slightly more lively ideal for cafés and outdoor work spaces. IP44 certification is the minimum for seasonal outdoor use in Canada — IP65 is recommended for zones exposed to wind and direct precipitation.
Smart RGB Option — Programming and Dynamic Effects
For commercial or residential installations wanting more versatility, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth-compatible outdoor LED string lights allow programming of color changes, blinking effects or scenes for special occasions (Halloween, Christmas, events). RGB+W models integrate warm white LEDs alongside RGB LEDs, enabling a switch from color to warm ambient light within a single product. For more sophisticated RGB installations on facades or architectural features, addressable RGB LED strips offer finer effects and integration into more discreet aluminum profiles.
