LED PUCK LIGHTS

See the products ↓

LED puck lights are small, discreet fixtures that light exactly where you need it: under a kitchen cabinet, in a closet, at the back of a display case, along a staircase. Unlike a strip, which spreads light over its whole length, a puck concentrates its light on one point and creates crisp accents. LEDCO offers a complete range of decorative LED puck lights, in 12 V or 24 V low voltage or in 120 V, with the power supply, the splitter and the detectors to connect them.

Puck lights or strip: when to choose the puck

The strip makes a line, the puck makes a point. That is what decides between the two, and the puck wins whenever you want an accent rather than a wash of light:

  • Under kitchen cabinets: one puck above each work zone, when you prefer circles of light to a continuous line.
  • In a closet or a cabinet: a puck on the ceiling of the unit, switched on by a door opening detector.
  • In a display case or a bookcase: one point of light per shelf, aimed at the object.
  • Along a staircase or a passage: a louver or one-sided puck in the riser or at the base of the wall.

When the surface is long and you want it lit evenly, a strip in a profile remains the right choice; our pages on LED under-cabinet lights and LED wardrobe lights compare the two in each room.

#600R and #600S: the round or the square puck

The #600R LED puck light is round and the #600S LED puck light is square: it is often the first choice under cabinets and in furniture, because you pick the shape that matches the doors and handles. The decorative puck light range also includes the #150R, #200, #300, #400, #700, #800, #900 and #950 models. Several offer a 3000 K warm white, flattering for wood and countertops, and some offer RGBW, which combines accent colours and functional white.

#500 LED puck light for saunas and spas

Saunas and spas are special environments where an ordinary puck light does not belong. The #500 LED puck light is the model in the range intended for these spaces. It adds soft ambient light in the cabin or around the bath, for relaxation rather than task work. Confirm the exact location with us based on your sauna or spa layout before installation.

#2000 family: louver, scoop, one or two sides

The #2000 family comes in several heads: round, square, louver, scoop, round one-sided or round two-sided. These variants change the way light leaves the fixture, which lets you mark a passage, light a step or highlight the base of a wall without seeing the source. The #2000 louver puck light page and those of its variants show each head.

#975 LED brick wall light and PAVO recessed light: beyond the furniture

Some models in the category go beyond furniture. The #975 LED brick wall light installs in a wall to wash the lower part of a hallway, staircase or low wall with accent light. The PAVO LED landscape light, designed for outdoor use, marks a walkway, a flower bed or the base of a low wall; it belongs to the LED landscaping category, along with small spotlights and outdoor step lighting.

12 V or 24 V power supply and 8-port splitter

Low-voltage pucks connect to a 12 V or 24 V LED power supply, just like a strip: the pucks in the same set of cabinets then share the same supply. The 8-port LED puck light splitter, rated 3 A per port, neatly connects several pucks to the same power supply. Wires, connectors and heat-shrink tubing are in the accessories and connectors category. Some 120 V models instead connect directly to the household circuit, with no power supply: handy for a single, stand-alone light point.

12 V battery kit and door opening detector

No wiring nearby? The 12 V battery kit for strip or puck powers a 12 V puck where there is no wire, for example in an antique piece of furniture or an extra cabinet. In a closet or a cabinet, the 12 V-24 V door opening detector switches the pucks on when the door opens and off when it closes: no more hunting for the switch, and the light never stays on by mistake.

Technical tips for installing a puck light

One puck per work zone. Under the cabinets, the puck goes above the spot where you chop and read the recipe; symmetry with the doors comes second.

Run the wire before closing the cabinet. The low-voltage wire goes behind the back panel or in the corner of the box; once the kitchen is installed, it takes much longer.

Keep the power supply reachable. Above the cabinets or in the corner box, never sealed behind a glued panel.

One white per room. If the counter strip is 3000 K, the pucks in the glass cabinets are too; two whites show right away.

Allow headroom on the power supply. Add up the wattage of every puck connected and take the model above it; at its maximum, a supply heats up and ages fast.

For a concrete example, our accomplishments include a residential kitchen lit with the Rio LED puck light. Not sure about the model, the voltage or the power supply? Contact the LEDCO team: we will guide you from choosing the puck to wiring it.

LED puck lights FAQ

What are puck lights?

Small round or square fixtures, about the size of a hockey puck, hence the name. They surface-mount or recess into a piece of furniture, a low ceiling or a wall, and concentrate their light on one point. At LEDCO, the French name is "rondelle LED".

120 V or low-voltage puck: which one?

Low voltage, 12 V or 24 V, as soon as there are several pucks: they share a power supply and a splitter. The 120 V version makes sense for a single, stand-alone light point, connected directly to the household circuit, with no power supply to hide.

How many pucks on one power supply?

As many as the wattage of the power supply allows, with some headroom. The 8-port splitter, rated 3 A per port, distributes the supply neatly to each puck. Give us the model and the number of pucks: we work out the power supply.

Surface-mounted or recessed puck?

Surface-mounted when the cabinet is already installed or the back panel is thin: no through-drilling. Recessed when you can drill before installation: the puck sits flush and disappears once the door is closed.

Which puck for a sauna or a spa?

The #500 LED puck light, the only model in the range meant for these environments. It gives soft ambient light, and its location is confirmed with us before installation, based on the layout of the cabin or the bath.
