Bathroom LED lighting often works best as a line rather than a point: a strip of light under the vanity, above the mirror, at the back of a niche or along a ceiling bulkhead. That is usually what is missing in a room lit only from the ceiling, where the face fills with shadows. LEDCO supplies the aluminum profiles, LED strips, mirrors and recessed lights to build layered lighting, with the protection ratings suited to wet areas.

Bathroom LED lighting: where to draw the lines of light

A line of light goes where it lights a surface without ever aiming at the eyes. Four locations almost always prove themselves:

  • Under a wall-hung vanity: the line lights the floor and the cabinet seems to float.
  • Above and below the mirror: two lines frame the face, with no shadow under the nose or chin.
  • At the back of the shower niche: a halo on the tile adds depth to the wall.
  • On a bulkhead or at the bathtub: a single line, running along the wall, is often enough to change the feel of the room.

Recessed in the drywall: a line planned before finishing

A recessed aluminum profile fitted with LED strip blends into the drywall of a ceiling, a bulkhead or a wall: all you see is a line of light, with no visible fixture. The profile protects the strip, draws its heat away and, with its diffuser, eliminates visible hot spots. Since the groove is prepared before finishing, this bathroom LED profile is planned during the renovation, along with the wiring and the power supply location.

A line under the wall-hung vanity, and the cabinet floats

Under a wall-hung vanity, a strip placed under the cabinet lights the floor and makes the unit appear to float. It also makes a handy night light: at low intensity overnight, it guides the way to the bathroom without glare. Housed in a small profile, an indoor LED strip suits the underside of the cabinet when it is sheltered from water; closer to splashes, choose a waterproof strip. A warm white keeps the mood soft, and a dimmable power supply adjusts the intensity by time of day.

Two surface profiles to frame a large mirror

For a double-sink vanity or a mirror that spans the full width of the wall, a surface aluminum profile goes horizontally above the mirror, 180-200 cm from the floor, with a second one below, at 90-100 cm. In 4000K neutral white, this light on both sides of the face reproduces the conditions of a theatre dressing room. The custom LED designer prepares the profiles to the exact dimensions of your mirror: no cutting on site.

A waterproof strip at the back of the shower niche

A niche built into the shower wall is the ideal place for a well-integrated LED shower light. An IP67, 24 V waterproof LED strip, installed in a mini U-profile recessed into the niche, lights the products and creates a halo on the back tiles that adds depth. In 2700K warm white, it completes a curbless walk-in shower. Directly in the shower zone, have the protection rating and the power supply location confirmed before the tile goes up.

The mirror and small recessed lights: the base, without clutter

An LED mirror solves the shadows that a sconce mounted above it casts on the face: the light comes from the mirror itself. The Galaxy Cabinet LED mirror and the Harmony Cabinet add medicine cabinet storage, and the full range is among our LED bathroom mirrors.

On the ceiling, LED recessed lights provide general lighting in front of the vanity, in the shower and at the toilet; many homeowners choose IP44 bathroom downlights for the entire ceiling. A small format, such as the DLX 3" round recessed light, stays discreet in a small room.

Technical tips for lines of light in a bathroom

The groove comes before the paint. A recessed profile is decided during the work, along with the wiring and the power supply location.

Waterproof near water, indoor when sheltered. Indoor strip suits a protected cabinet; in the niche or near splashes, use a waterproof strip.

The power supply stays dry. Plan it in a dry, accessible spot outside the shower zone, and have its location confirmed before the tile.

Neutral white at the mirror, warm white elsewhere. 4000K serves makeup and shaving; 2700K or 3000K keeps the niche and the vanity warm.

Check the rating on each spec sheet. In a walk-in shower with a separate ceiling, small-diameter IP65 or IP67 recessed lights can light the stall.

Our accomplishments show two bathrooms lit by LEDCO, one with the Galaxy LED mirror, the other with under-vanity lighting. Send us the dimensions of the room, the vanity and the mirror, and contact LEDCO for a plan that combines profiles, strips, mirror and recessed lights.

Bathroom LED Lighting FAQ

How do I light a shower niche with LEDs?

Set an IP67 waterproof strip in a mini U-profile recessed into the top or back of the niche. The wire and the profile location are planned before tiling, and the protection rating is confirmed with an advisor. In 2700K, the halo on the tile adds depth to the wall.

Can the old fluorescent fixture above the mirror be replaced with an LED line?

Yes: a surface profile mounted horizontally above the mirror takes its place, with continuous light and no visible dots. Add a second profile below the mirror to light the face from both sides. The custom designer cuts it to the exact width of the mirror.

Which LED strip for bathroom vanities should I choose?

Under a cabinet sheltered from water, an indoor strip in a small profile does the job well; near splashes, choose a waterproof strip. A warm white and a dimmable power supply turn it into a soft night light.

Where can I buy custom bathroom LED lighting profiles?

Directly from LEDCO: profiles, strips and power supplies can be ordered online, and the custom designer prepares each profile to the length you need. The tool sends you a detailed quote, with no payment. If you are unsure about a location near water, our team will review it with you before you order.
