LED GARDEN LIGHTS
LED garden lights carry the yard on after sunset: the path guides visitors, plants take on depth and the patio stays inviting in the evening. The real challenge is often distance: the back of the yard, the shed, the vegetable garden or the secondary path are far from any electrical outlet. LEDCO offers two ways to bring light there: self-contained solar fixtures that need no wiring, and low-voltage fixtures connected by buried cable.
Solar or low voltage: the distance to the outlet decides
Before choosing a fixture, sketch a simple plan of the yard: the paths to mark, the plants to highlight and the location of the outdoor outlet. That plan naturally splits the fixtures between the two families:
- Far from the outlet, in full sun: solar. No trench, no wire and no draw on the electrical grid.
- Under the tree canopy: low voltage. A shaded solar panel recharges poorly; a buried cable solves the problem.
- Close to the house or patio: low voltage, from an outdoor transformer plugged into the outlet.
- A layout that changes every year: solar, which you move without unplugging anything.
Either way, lighting adds safety: you see where you walk, and the surroundings of the house stay visible.
15" and 19" TULUM solar lights for borders and secondary paths
To mark a lawn border or a path leading to the back of the garden, a solar fixture goes exactly where it is needed. The 15" TULUM solar LED light and the 19" TULUM offer two sizes to vary the rhythm along a trail or around a flower bed. The panel recharges the battery during the day, the fixture lights up in the evening, and since no wire links them, the layout can change as the landscaping evolves. These are the simplest LED garden lights to install.
500 lm solar bollard and 20W solar post for the entrance and a remote driveway
At the entrance to a property, a cottage or a private parking area, a more assertive light is called for. The 500 lm 4000K solar bollard marks the access like a classic path bollard, with no wire to bury. The 20W solar post fixture lights a larger area from above, a practical option for a remote driveway or the approach to a shed. The full range is in our LED solar lighting.
20W solar and 30W CCT hybrid floodlights: a tree or the shed, no wire
To light a large tree, the front of a shed or a corner of the yard without running wire, a solar floodlight does the job. The 20W 4000K solar spotlight luminaire suits open areas that get sunshine, and the 30W CCT hybrid solar LED spotlight adds power and a choice of colour temperature. Aimed at the trunk or the wall, it gives the garden depth from nightfall.
Garden steps: 2.5W, 3W motion-sensing or 1W solar
A stone retaining wall, a few steps between two levels or a wooden staircase leading down to the yard become hazardous in the evening. The 2.5W LED stair light lights the spot where the foot lands, and the 3W LED stair light with motion detector turns on only when someone passes, a good choice for a little-used staircase. Far from any power source, the 1W 4000K solar stair light completes the offering.
When the wire can reach: 18/2 wire, IP68 junction box and 100W power supply
When the garden is wired, durability comes down to the connections. The 18/2 outdoor landscaping wire, in a 100-foot length, links the low-voltage fixtures to the 100W outdoor power supply. Each splice is made in an IP68 waterproof outdoor junction box or with outdoor marettes with silicone. The 18-5 direct burial wire and the IP68 SP21 2-pin power cable connector complete the options.
This wiring powers the fixtures in our LED landscaping section, such as the PICO outdoor spotlights, placed at the foot of a shrub or a hedge and aimed at the foliage.
Technical tips for LED garden lights
Start by locating the outlet. The split between solar and low voltage depends on it, and so does the length of wire you need.
A solar panel wants sun. If the panel would sit in the shade of trees, low voltage is preferable.
Use 3000 K for plants. It gives a natural rendering of foliage and flower colours.
Aim at the foliage, not the eyes. A spotlight at the foot of a shrub, pointed up, lights the plant without dazzling the patio.
Every splice in a sealed box. IP68 box or silicone marette: ground moisture always finds a bare connection.

LED Garden Lights FAQ
How do I light the back of the yard without running wire?
With solar outdoor LED lights: the TULUM to mark a path, the solar bollard for an entrance, the solar floodlight for a tree or a shed. The panel recharges the battery during the day and the fixture lights up in the evening, with no trench or wiring.
Does a solar light work under trees?
Poorly, if its panel stays in the shade for much of the day. In that case, a low-voltage fixture connected by buried cable is preferable: it comes on every evening, whatever sun it got.
How much wire do I need for low-voltage garden lighting?
Measure on your plan the route from the outdoor outlet to each fixture, then add it up. The 18/2 landscaping wire comes in a 100-foot length, and each connection is made in an IP68 junction box or with a silicone marette.
What light colour suits a garden?
For plants, 3000 K gives a natural rendering. Several solar fixtures are 4000K, a more neutral white that works well for marking an entrance or a path. The 30W CCT hybrid floodlight lets you choose the colour temperature.
How do I light a garden staircase far from the house?
With no power nearby, the 1W solar stair light installs with no wire. If the low-voltage cable can reach, the 3W motion-detector light only turns on when someone passes, so your LED garden lights stay discreet the rest of the evening.
