LED LANDSCAPE LIGHTING
Around an office building, a store, a hotel, a condo complex or a municipal building, landscape LED lighting works the night shift: it guides pedestrians from the street to the door, highlights trees and the facade, secures the perimeter and gives the property a polished image. All of it without dazzling the neighbours or lighting up the sky. The key: layer several techniques, each with the right fixture. Here is how LEDCO puts together the lighting of a commercial, institutional or multi-residential property.
LED bollards: wayfinding for forecourts, plazas and pedestrian paths
The bollard, or light post, is the backbone of pedestrian wayfinding. Installed along a path, around a forecourt or at the edge of a parking lot, LED outdoor bollards light the ground where people walk and clearly mark the way. Their low light avoids glare and leaves the rest of the property in pleasant half-light, which makes the illuminated trees and facade stand out all the more.
For a public square or the entrance to a municipal building, it is often the first fixture on the drawing: it sets the rhythm of the route, and floodlights then pick out what must be seen from a distance.
Outdoor LED floodlights: mature trees, facade and entrance sign
Uplighting, a ground-mounted floodlight aimed upward, turns a mature tree or a trimmed hedge into a light sculpture and gives the landscaping depth. On the facade, outdoor LED floodlights reveal the texture of brick, stone or concrete: placed 18 to 24 inches from the wall, they create a grazing angle that accentuates relief.
A warm 3000K white flatters virtually all building materials and plants. The same floodlights can light a sign on a low wall at the property entrance, so the address is easy to spot from the street. For fixtures installed at ground level or buried, aim for an IP67 rating.
LED wall packs: which model for which wall
On the building walls, the wall pack lights sidewalks, delivery areas and the flower beds along the facade. The full cut-off models accept a 120 V to 347 V supply, and the full range is in our LED wall packs:
- Full cut-off 25W-40W-60W: the full cut-off LED wall pack 25W-40W-60W directs all of its light toward the ground, for low walls and the paths along the building.
- Full cut-off 80W-100W-120W: the 80W-100W-120W model covers larger areas, such as an adjacent parking lot.
- Doorway 9W-12W-15W: the doorway LED wall pack lights the threshold of a service door without dazzling the person arriving.
- Adjustable 15W-20W-24W-30W: the adjustable LED wall pack can be aimed at a hedge, a bike shelter or a sloped path.
- CCT model: the CCT LED wall pack matches its colour temperature to the rest of the landscaping.
With a full cut-off model, the property is lit, but the sky and the neighbours' windows stay dark, which limits light pollution.
Outdoor LED strips: low walls, concrete benches and shared steps
To underline a stone wall, the underside of a concrete bench, the nosing of outdoor stairs or the edge of a shared terrace, LED strip draws a continuous line that point fixtures cannot reproduce. Outdoor LED strips, installed in an aluminum profile, gain protection and give uniform light. Hidden under a ledge, the strip disappears: only the light remains visible.
Solar wall packs: sheds, bin shelters and remote gates
Some corners of a property have no electrical service: a shed at the back of the lot, a bin shelter, a remote access gate. The solar LED wall pack 15W and the 20W solar mini wall pack install with no trench or wiring: the panel captures energy during the day and the fixture lights up at night.
Technical tips for commercial landscape LED lighting
Start from a site plan. Trace the pedestrian route from the street to the door, then place the bollards before anything else.
Light the ground, not the sky. Full cut-off wall packs and well-aimed floodlights keep the light on the property.
One white across the site. 3000K ties together facade, trees and paths; the CCT model helps you match it.
IP67 for anything at ground level. A fixture flush with the ground or buried gets rainwater and melting snow.
Plan solar for Quebec winters. Face the panel south and clear the snow off it after a heavy snowfall.

Is low voltage landscape lighting suitable for a commercial building?
For small flower beds near an entrance, yes: our LED landscaping section brings together recessed puck lights and small low-voltage floodlights. For walls, parking lots and long routes, wall packs, bollards and outdoor floodlights take over.
How do I light the forecourt or pedestrian path of a public building?
With LED bollards placed along the route: they light the ground where people walk, without glare. Floodlights then highlight the facade, the trees and the entrance sign.
How do I limit light pollution around a building?
Choose full cut-off wall packs, which direct all of their light toward the ground, and low fixtures such as bollards. Aim floodlights at the facade or the trees, never toward the street or the neighbours' windows.
How do I light a corner of the property with no power?

What IP rating do LED landscape lights at ground level need?
