LED SHOP LIGHT FIXTURES
LED shop light fixtures are the simplest lighting solution for a residential garage, a woodworking shop, a mechanical room or a low-ceiling commercial workspace. They replace fluorescent tubes with clean, uniform, flicker-free white light, and mount on the ceiling or hang from chains. LEDCO offers wraparound fixtures in 2, 3, 4 and 8 feet, a 36W linear workshop fixture and vapour-tight fixtures for dusty zones, in neutral to cool white from 4000 K to 5000 K, the range recommended for precision work.
2, 3, 4 and 8-foot wraparound fixtures: the right length for each bay
A wraparound fixture surrounds the source with a diffuser that spreads light downward and to the sides: no dark band on the ceiling, no glaring dots when you look up. The 4-foot 40W 4CCT wraparound is the most common format in a garage; the 8-foot multi-watt 65-75-90W 5CCT wraparound in 120-347V covers a long workshop or commercial garage bay with a single unit. For a bench corner or a narrow room, the 2-foot wraparound and the 3-foot 5CCT wraparound round out the range, all within our integrated LED fixtures.
Multi-watt and CCT models are set on site: one selector fixes the wattage, another the light colour, from warm white to cool white. You buy a single model for the whole shop and adjust each zone at installation.
Which LED shop light for your workshop
The right shop lighting depends on the floor area, the height and what you do there:
- Single residential garage: 4-foot fixtures in one or two rows, along the length of the car.
- Double garage or woodworking shop: 8-foot fixtures aligned in continuous bays.
- Washed or dusty mechanical room: 4 or 8-foot vapour-tight fixtures.
- Above the workbench: a linear pendant, lowered to working height.
- Ceiling above 15 feet: UFO or linear high bays.
The 36W, 46-inch linear workshop fixture
Between the 4-foot wraparound and the vapour-tight fixture, the 36W 46-inch linear workshop fixture is designed for the hobby shop and the garage: a compact, integrated unit that lights a bench or a storage aisle without renovation. It is often the first of the LED workshop lights people install, before equipping the whole ceiling with a full row of shop lights.
4' and 8' vapour-tight fixtures: sawdust and washdown
In a woodworking shop, sawdust settles on everything that is open; in a mechanical room, the floor and sometimes the walls get washed. The 4' multi-watt 3CCT LED vapour-tight fixture and the 8' CCT LED vapour-tight fixture, both 120-347V, keep their diffuser sealed and wipe clean with a cloth. For a harsher environment, the 4' 60W NEMA 4X model is made for condensation and pressure washing. Our vapour-tight LED fixtures page covers these choices in detail.
Above the workbench: the 4' 40W linear pendant
A well-lit ceiling is not always enough for fine work. The 4' 40W linear suspended luminaire, or its bidirectional version that also lights the ceiling, drops above the bench and brings task light where the hands are working. Combined with the ceiling fixtures, it forms complete, flexible workshop lighting that you can adjust as the shop evolves; you will find the other formats among our LED suspended luminaires.
Ceiling above 15 feet: the high bay takes over
Beyond about 15 feet of height, a wraparound no longer sends enough light to the floor. LED high bays take over: the 90W-120W-150W UFO high bay for an open shop, the linear models above long aisles. A fabrication shop fitted with 240W high bays is shown in our accomplishments. For a garage attached to the house, our LED garage lights page complements this one.
Technical tips for LED shop lights
Stay between 4000 K and 5000 K. That is the range that gives visual precision in a shop; warm white is easier on the eyes in a living room, not in front of a saw.
Mount the fixtures along the work. Parallel to the car or the bench, they avoid your own body casting a shadow on the part.
Hang them where dust flies. A fixture suspended on chains is easier to clean and adjusts in height to the task.
A CRI of 80 or more for finishing. Colour touch-ups and surface inspection call for good colour rendering.
Have the 120-347V wired by an electrician. Commercial fixtures are wired into a junction box; it is the right time to add a 120-347V ceiling PIR Bluetooth sensor.
Contact LEDCO with the dimensions of your shop and the ceiling height: we will propose the number and length of fixtures, and the complements above the bench.

LED Shop Light FAQ
Wraparound fixture or fluorescent tube in a workshop?
The LED fixture turns on instantly, even in the cold, does not flicker and has no tube or ballast to replace. The fluorescent tube starts slowly in winter and fades over time. If your housings are still good, T8 LED tubes are a middle ground; otherwise, the integrated fixture replaces everything in one step.
Which LED shop light for a residential garage?
The 4-foot 40W 4CCT wraparound, in one or two rows depending on the width of the garage. For a double or deep garage, the 8-foot fixture covers a full bay per unit and reduces the number of connections.
4000 K or 5000 K for a workshop?
5000 K, close to daylight, suits precision work and mechanics. 4000 K, more neutral, is pleasant in a mixed-use garage. CCT models let you choose on site, and even change your mind later.
Do I need a vapour-tight fixture in a garage?
Not for a dry garage where the ceiling stays clean. As soon as you hose down the floor, have condensation or a lot of sawdust, the 4 or 8-foot vapour-tight fixture prevents a fouled diffuser and failures.
How many fixtures do I need for my shop?
It depends on the floor area, the ceiling height and the colour of the walls. Send us the dimensions and what you do in the shop: we work out the number of fixtures and their layout before you order.
