LED BARN LIGHT

An LED barn light, for us, is first of all a fixture that holds up in a farm building: high ceilings, long walls, hay dust, humidity, and often frost all winter. For these conditions LEDCO offers LED high bays from 85 W to 400 W for the interior, wall packs from 9 W to 120 W for façades and doors, solar wall packs for buildings with no electricity, and sensors. This page covers the farm building itself, not decorative barn-style fixtures.

LED barn light: choosing by building

A farm does not have one building but several, and each is lit differently:

  • Barn or equipment shed, high ceiling: UFO high bay hung under the roof trusses.
  • Stable, long and narrow aisles: linear high bay that follows the aisle.
  • Riding arena or large shed: high-wattage linear high bay.
  • Yard, loading area, silos: adjustable or full cut-off wall pack, outdoor floodlights.
  • Man door, sliding door: doorway wall pack or CCT wall pack.
  • Sugar shack, hay shelter, building never connected: solar wall pack.

LED UFO high bay 90 W-120 W-150 W: under the roof trusses

In a barn or a shed with a high ceiling, a high bay hung under the roof trusses lights the floor evenly, where scattered bulbs used to leave dark areas. The 90 W-120 W-150 W LED UFO high bay suits medium-sized buildings; the 180 W-200 W-240 W and 240 W-270 W-300 W UFO models take over in large volumes. Each model offers several wattages, set at installation, to fit the lighting to the building rather than the other way around.

Linear LED high bay: long stable and shed aisles

In a stable or a long, narrow building, light needs to follow the aisles rather than fall in a circle. The 85 W-100 W-130 W-155 W linear LED high bay covers service aisles and medium-height buildings; the 200 W-230 W-270 W and 320 W-360 W-400 W models light large equipment sheds and riding arenas. The full range, in 120 V-347 V, is in our LED high bays.

High bay sensors: light only when someone walks in

In a farm building, you often go in for just a few minutes: to feed the animals, grab a tool or check on a heifer. The PIR Bluetooth sensor for LED high bays and the microwave sensor turn the lighting on when you arrive, then dim it or switch it off when the building empties. No more crossing the barn in the dark, or discovering in the morning that the lights stayed on all night. A remote adjusts the settings without climbing up to the fixture.

Adjustable LED wall pack 40 W-50 W-60 W-75 W: the yard and the façades

Around the barn, the yard, the loading area and the silos need light that carries far. The adjustable LED wall pack, mounted high on the façade, is aimed at the area to be lit; a 15 W to 30 W version exists for smaller buildings. If you would rather not light up the sky or the neighbouring land, the 80 W-100 W-120 W full cut-off LED wall pack directs all its light toward the ground. For a larger yard, our outdoor LED floodlights complete the setup.

Doorway LED wall pack and CCT wall pack: stable and workshop doors

Every man door deserves its light: you walk in with your hands full, often before sunrise. The 9 W-12 W-15 W doorway LED wall pack, or its 20 W-25 W-30 W version, lights the threshold, the handle and the steps. The 28 W-40 W-60 W CCT LED wall pack, with a selectable colour temperature, suits garage doors and the barn's large sliding doors.

Solar LED wall packs: the remote building with no electricity

A sugar shack at the end of the road, a hay shelter out in the field or an old barn never connected to the grid: many farm buildings have no electricity. The 15 W solar LED wall pack and the 20 W mini solar LED wall pack mount on the façade with no wire to run from the house, to light the entrance and the access to the building. Technical tips for an LED barn light that lasts

Read the temperature range on the spec sheet. An unheated building spends the winter below freezing; the fixture has to be made for that.

Check the protection rating against dust and water. Hay dust and aisle washing get in everywhere; each model's IP rating is on its spec sheet.

Hang the high bays out of reach of the machinery. A tractor with its bucket raised or a hay wagon passes higher than you think.

Put a sensor where nobody stays. Shed, milk room, workshop: the light comes on as you enter and goes off on its own.

Aim yard light toward the ground. The full cut-off lights what is needed without bothering the neighbours or the country sky.

Our agricultural LED lighting range brings together other fixtures intended for farm use. Note the building's dimensions, the height under the roof trusses, the use of each section and whether or not there is electricity, then contact our team: we will propose fixtures suited to your operating conditions.

LED barn light FAQ

Do you sell decorative barn-style gooseneck fixtures?

This page is about lighting the farm building itself. For a façade fixture with a country look on a house or a garage, see our LED wall light fixtures and our page on outdoor LED wall light fixtures instead.

Which high bay for a stable rather than a barn?

The linear one, because the light has to follow the aisle rather than fall in a circle. In a square barn or shed with a high ceiling, the UFO format spreads the light better over the floor. In both cases, the wattage is set at installation according to the height.

Do the fixtures withstand frost and dust?

Each model has its operating temperature range and its protection rating, shown on its spec sheet. Before ordering for an unheated or very dusty building, check those two values or send us a description of the building: we confirm which models are suitable.

Can a building with no electricity be lit with an LED barn light?

Yes, with the 15 W and 20 W solar wall packs, mounted on the façade to light the door and the access. The panel charges by day and the fixture comes on at night, with no wire to run. For the inside of a large building, however, a power supply is required.
