LED SPA LIGHTS
A good LED spa light is part of the experience: soft, enveloping, sometimes coloured, it turns a relaxation room or a deck into a place where you truly unwind. LEDs dim, come in RGBW colours and are available in versions for humid rooms. LEDCO offers the components to light a residential spa, a treatment room or the area around an outdoor spa: the #500 puck light designed for saunas and spas, waterproof RGBW strips, colour recessed lights, custom-cut aluminum profiles and dimming controls.
Indoor spa or spa on the deck: two LED spa light plans
A spa in a closed room is lit like a sauna: the light comes from the walls, the ceiling and under the rim, and anything near the steam must be made for humidity. A spa on the deck is lit from the edges: the outline of the patio, the steps, the path from the door, with low points that do not dazzle the people in the water. Both plans share the same rule: the source stays hidden, you only see the surface it lights. Near a pool, also see our LED pool lights and LED deck lights pages.
#500 LED puck light: the fill light made for saunas and spas
For hot, humid rooms, the #500 LED puck light is the model in our range designed for saunas and spas. Installed on the ceiling or walls, it provides the fill light to move around safely without breaking the mood. In a sauna, steam cabin or hammam, use only products designed for that purpose and have your choice validated by our team: a standard recessed ceiling light never belongs in these rooms. For the cabin itself, see LED sauna lights.
Waterproof RGBW LED strips: colour with no visible source
RGBW strips let you program complete moods: a calm blue for relaxation, a warm tint late in the evening, a crisp white for cleaning. In a residential spa, LED strips fit under the rim of a jetted tub, in niches, around the ceiling of a treatment room or under a bench. Near water, choose silicone-sleeved waterproof LED strips; for areas exposed to splashing, IP67 is the rating to favour.
DLF 4" RGBW and DLS 4" RGBW-CCT recessed lights: colour from the ceiling
In a relaxation room next to the spa, colour can also come from the ceiling. The DLF 4" round slim RGBW 9W recessed light and the DLS 4" round RGBW-CCT 9W recessed light switch from normal white lighting to a coloured mood, and can match the colour of the strips. The RGBW-CCT model adds adjustment of the shade of white, from warm to cool.
Five spa lighting ideas that work every time
The most frequent requests come down to a few simple moves:
- Under the rim of the spa or tub: a waterproof strip in a profile, the light grazes the floor and the spa seems to float.
- Under the bench or the access step: a low line that guides wet feet without lighting faces.
- The outline of the deck: #2000 puck lights at regular spacing, in warm white.
- The ceiling of the relaxation room: RGBW recessed lights that change colour with the strips.
- The towel niche or the stone wall: a strip in grazing light that brings out the texture.
#2000 puck lights and custom profiles: around the outdoor spa
Around a spa on the deck, lighting should guide your steps without dazzling the people in the water. #2000 puck lights, available in round, square, louver, scoop or one- and two-sided versions, mark the edge of the deck, the steps and the path to the spa. Their aluminum housing withstands heat and humidity; the full range is in our decorative LED puck lights.
Every spa is unique. Our aluminum profiles are cut to the exact dimensions of your space: a niche, the rim of a tub, the underside of a wooden bench. The diffuser hides the individual LEDs, a detail that matters when you look at the rim up close, lying back. With our Custom Builder, you configure the profile with integrated LED strip online, ready to install.
Dimmers and controllers: from task light to ambiance
A spa is enjoyed at low intensity. LED dimmers and controllers let you bring the light down to a minimum during relaxation and back up for cleaning. Plan separate zones, the colour strips, the fill puck lights and the general lighting, each with its own control. For an outdoor spa, place the controls under cover, out of reach of splashes.
Technical tips for spa lighting
Nothing in the spa water. Our strips, puck lights and recessed lights light around the tub and in the room; underwater light belongs to the spa itself.
The power supply and the controls stay dry. They go outside the wet area, somewhere ventilated.
Hide the source, light the surface. A strip set back under a rim beats a fixture staring at the bathers.
Choose the IP rating by the splashing. IP67 where water sprays, and never an indoor strip under a wet rim.
Match the colours from the start. RGBW strips and RGBW recessed lights driven by the same system give the same tint everywhere.

LED spa light FAQ
Can an LED strip go in the spa water?
No. Our products light the surroundings of the spa, the walls, the ceiling and the deck, never the inside of the tub. Underwater lighting is part of the spa and comes from its maker.
What light works for an inflatable hot tub on the deck?
The same plan as a fixed spa, only simpler: a few #2000 puck lights around the patio, a waterproof strip under the step or along the railing, and the controls out of reach of splashes. Everything stays low voltage and nothing touches the tub itself.
What colour options exist for a spa?
RGBW strips combine colours and a true white, and RGBW and RGBW-CCT recessed lights do the same from the ceiling. A single controller drives the scenes: blue for relaxation, amber in the evening, white for cleaning.
What IP rating is needed near a spa?
For areas exposed to splashing, IP67 is the rating to favour; a silicone-sleeved strip is the minimum as soon as there is water. In the adjoining relaxation room, away from splashes, RGBW recessed lights install as in any other room.
Can an ordinary recessed light go above an indoor spa?
In a sauna, a steam cabin or a hammam, never: only the #500 puck light or a product designed for those rooms goes there. Above an indoor spa, have the choice validated by our team according to the ventilation and the ceiling height.
