Choosing LED kitchen fixtures means choosing what you will see every day: the pendant over the island, the ceiling downlights, the sconce in the dining nook. These visible fixtures set the tone of the room, while under-cabinet lighting works behind the scenes. LED kitchen fixtures: what you see, what does the work
A well-lit kitchen combines fixtures that show and fixtures that hide. Each one has its place:
- Above the island or table: the pendant, both task light and focal point.
- On the ceiling: downlights, which provide general light without clutter.
- On a wall without cabinets: the sconce, which adds ambient light at eye level.
- Under the cabinets: puck lights or strip, for a shadow-free counter.
8, 10 or 20-inch suspended ceiling light, or a black cylinder: choosing the format
Our LED suspended luminaires include three ceiling lights designed for islands: the 8-inch model in black, the 10-inch model and the 20-inch suspended ceiling light for islands or tables. For a good-sized island, two or three small fixtures in a row often look better than a single large one; above a round table or a compact island, one 20-inch model defines the space nicely.
For a more contemporary kitchen, the 20 W 3CCT black cylinder pendant light brings a clean, graphic silhouette. Its three colour temperatures range from a warm white, for a cozy kitchen, to a more neutral white, for a large open-concept space. In a row above an island or alone above a breakfast nook, it pairs well with downlights set to the same white.
4 ft linear pendant: a single line for a long island
A long island or a large table calls for a line of light rather than a series of points. The 4 ft linear suspended luminaire covers the length in a single stroke, and its bidirectional version lights both toward the counter and toward the ceiling, which softens the whole room. The LED linear pendant light 3CCT 0-10V dimmable adds a choice of colour temperature and, with a compatible dimmer, intensity control: bright light for cooking, dimmed light when the island becomes the evening table.
DLX slim and DLT trimless downlights: a ceiling that disappears
General light most often comes from LED ceiling downlights. DLX slim downlights, in 3 or 4 inches, round or square, install in drywall without needing much space above the ceiling. For a clean ceiling, the DLT 4-inch round trimless 12 W recessed light blends into the drywall: all you see is the light. The 10 W-18 W linear recessed light draws a line above a counter or a passageway, and it is a worthy replacement for the old fluorescent tube above the sink.
3CCT linear wall sconces for the dining nook
Above a breakfast bar, near open shelving or in the dining nook, a sconce adds ambient light at eye level. Among our LED wall light fixtures, the slot, oval and backlit linear sconces, from 20 to 48 inches depending on the model, also offer three colour temperatures. They extend the lines of a linear pendant and, together with the downlights, create layered lighting that is more pleasant than a single central ceiling fixture. They are kitchen light fixtures for an open-concept kitchen as much as for a dining room.
Under the cabinets, backup for the visible fixtures
Visible fixtures are not always enough for the work surface, since the upper cabinets cast their shadow on the counter. They are complemented by LED puck lights under the cabinets, or by an indoor LED strip set in an aluminum profile. The custom builder cuts the profile and strip to the exact length of each section.
Technical tips for combining kitchen lighting fixtures
Hang pendants roughly 70 to 90 cm up. At that height above the counter, the pendant lights the surface without dazzling seated guests.
Several small fixtures rather than one large. On a good-sized island, two or three pendants in a row spread the light better.
One white for the whole room. Set 3CCT pendants, downlights and sconces to the same white for even light from one end to the other.
Cover the counters and walkways. Spread the downlights where you work, not just in the centre, so you are not cooking in your own shadow.
Plan for dimming from the start. A dimmable pendant and its dimmer turn the island into an evening table.

How high should a pendant hang above the island?
Allow roughly 70 to 90 cm between the bottom of the fixture and the counter. Any higher and the light gets lost; any lower and it dazzles seated guests and blocks the view across the island. The same rule applies above a table.
One pendant or several above an island?
On a long island, two or three small ceiling lights in a row, or a single 4 ft linear pendant, cover the surface better than one large centred fixture. On a compact island or a round table, a single 20-inch ceiling light is enough and defines the space nicely.
What does 3CCT mean on a fixture?
A 3CCT fixture offers three selectable colour temperatures, from warm white to a more neutral white. You set the white at installation to match the other fixtures in the room. Our linear pendants, the black cylinder and the linear sconces are all 3CCT.
Can an LED kitchen pendant be dimmed?
Yes, with the right model. The LED linear pendant 3CCT is 0-10V dimmable: connected to a compatible dimmer, it goes from bright light for cooking to soft light for dinner. Check dimmer compatibility before installation; our team can tell you which one to use.
Which LED kitchen fixtures suit a ceiling with little space?
DLX slim downlights, in 3 or 4 inches, need very little space above the drywall and suit ceilings that cannot fit a deep housing. For an even cleaner look, the DLT trimless downlight shows nothing but the light: LED kitchen lighting that takes up no room at all. Add a pendant above the island if the height allows.
