LED PENDANT LIGHTING
An LED pendant light does more than illuminate: it dresses the room and draws the eye. Above a kitchen island, a dining table, a restaurant counter or a workstation, the pendant brings the light closer to where it is needed, while becoming a design element in its own right. LEDCO offers LED pendant lighting for the home as well as for stores and institutional spaces: suspended ceiling lights for islands, cylinders, linear pendants, a hexagonal fixture and suspended aluminum profiles made to measure.
LED pendant light: bringing the light closer to where it is needed
A recessed light shines from the ceiling, far from the surface; a pendant brings the light down to within a few feet of the island, the table or the counter. The result is twofold: better task light where you work, and an object that structures the room, visible from the entrance. That is why a pendant is chosen with the surface it lights, never alone in the catalogue. For a dining room, our LED dining room lighting page makes the choice according to the shape of the table.
8'', 10'' and 20'' suspended ceiling lights: islands and tables
Above a kitchen island, a few pendants in a row create rhythm and light the entire work surface. The 8'' suspended ceiling light for islands, in black, adds a graphic touch, the 10'' model fits most kitchens, and the 20'' suspended ceiling light for islands or tables stands alone above a large table or island. Allow about 70 to 90 cm between the bottom of the pendant and the counter for effective task lighting, and 75 to 90 cm above a dining table. Above a table, centre the pendant on the table rather than on the room.
Black 20W 3CCT cylinder: counters, entrances and restaurants
The black cylinder pendant light 20W 3CCT concentrates its light downward, which makes it a natural choice above a bar counter, a service counter, a side table or in an entrance with a high ceiling. Its compact format is easy to repeat in a series along a counter, and its three colour temperatures let you choose between a warm atmosphere and crisper light.
4' linear, bidirectional and 3CCT 0-10V pendants: offices, stores and meeting rooms
For a conference table, an elongated island, a row of workstations or a store, linear pendants spread light evenly along their entire length. The 4' linear suspended luminaire lights downward; its bidirectional version also lights the ceiling, which softens the atmosphere under high ceilings. The LED linear pendant light 3CCT 0-10V dimmable adds a choice of tone and 0-10V dimming, common in commercial buildings. In a meeting room, align the pendant with the axis of the table; in a store, follow the aisles and displays instead. Our LED conference room lights page details the office case.
Hexagonal LED ceiling fixture: a ceiling that turns heads
For a garage, a workshop or a training room that wants to stand out, the hexagonal LED ceiling fixture with 14 hexagons forms a light pattern that covers a large part of the ceiling. Its white light, crisp and spread over the entire surface of the pattern, makes every detail easy to see, from the bodywork of a car to precision work, while giving the room a strong visual signature that stands out from the moment you walk in.
Suspended LED aluminum profiles: custom lines of light
When no standard pendant has the right length, a suspended aluminum profile with LED strip becomes a custom linear fixture: a continuous line above a long counter or a conference table, or a series of parallel lines in an entrance hall. Suspended LED aluminum profiles are cut to the exact length of the space, and our custom Designer lets you describe your project and receive a matching quote. Profile #94 in a university project and the dining room of the Yoko Luna restaurant are among our accomplishments.
Height, spacing and tone: the checklist
Before ordering, four points settle most hesitations:
- Height: 70 to 90 cm above a counter, 75 to 90 cm above a table, higher in an entrance where people walk underneath.
- Centring: on the lit surface, not on the room; an off-centre outlet is corrected with an offset plate.
- Spacing: regular, with the first and last fixture set back from the ends of the island or table.
- Tone: a warm white of 2700K to 3000K above a table or an island, 4000K in an office or a workshop.
To round out the lighting around a pendant, LED ceiling downlights provide supplementary light in the rest of the room. The full range is in the LED suspended luminaires section.
Technical tips for an LED pendant light
Check the clearance under the pendant. Above a counter, nobody walks underneath; in an entrance, people must get through without ducking.
Choose the cable length before installing. A high ceiling calls for a longer rod or cable to bring the light back down to the right height.
One tone across the whole row. With 3CCT models, set each fixture to the same value before hanging it.
0-10V is planned at wiring time. 0-10V dimming needs two control conductors in addition to the supply; the electrician runs them before closing the ceiling.
Beyond the standard length, think profile. A suspended profile cut to size replaces two pendants poorly joined together.

LED pendant light FAQ
How high should a pendant hang above an island?
Allow about 70 to 90 cm between the bottom of the pendant and the counter: low enough for effective task light, high enough not to block the view from one side of the island to the other. Above a table, aim for 75 to 90 cm instead.
How many pendants above an island?
It depends on the length of the island and the format chosen: often two or three small ceiling lights, or a single large 20'' model above a short island. Space them evenly and keep the first and last set back from the ends.
Pendant or recessed lights?
Both: the pendant gives the task light and the focal point, the recessed lights the general light around it. A room lit only by a pendant leaves the corners dark.
Can I get a pendant longer than 4 feet?
Yes, with a suspended aluminum profile cut to the exact length, LED strip integrated, configured in the custom Designer. It is the solution for long counters, conference tables and lobbies.
Which shade of white should I choose?
A warm white of 2700K to 3000K creates a cozy atmosphere above a table or an island, while 4000K is better suited to an office or a workshop. Hesitating between several models or preparing a commercial project? Contact our team: we will help you choose the pendant, its height and its placement.
