OFFICE LED LIGHTING
Choosing LED workplace lighting means deciding how the workspace will look as much as how well each desk will be lit. A single office includes an open-plan area, private offices, a meeting room, a reception area and corridors, and each calls for a different fixture. LEDCO brings together the ones that give an office its structure: 0-10V dimmable linear pendants, entrance fixtures, 3CCT wall sconces, ambient LED strip and the sensors that light only the rooms in use.
The 3CCT 0-10V dimmable LED linear pendant: the open-plan area
In an open-plan office, the 3CCT LED linear pendant light draws rows of light aligned with the workstation clusters. It offers three selectable colour temperatures; neutral white 4000K remains the safe choice for an office, crisp enough to support concentration without the coldness of 5000K. Its 0-10V dimming lets you lower the output near windows or during a presentation, from a wall dimmer or a building management system.
The 4' bidirectional linear pendant: meeting rooms and high ceilings
The 4' bidirectional linear suspended luminaire lights both downward, onto the table or the desks, and upward, onto the ceiling. This indirect component reduces shadowed areas and the cave effect in rooms with high ceilings, and softens the contrast around screens. It is a natural choice for a meeting room, a training room or a large floor. Where only direct lighting is needed, the standard 4' linear suspended luminaire keeps the same clean line, and both line up in parallel rows to follow the layout of the tables.
The building entrance: unit number light, outdoor cylinder and bidirectional wall fixtures
Office lighting starts outside, at the door. The 5CCT 0-10V dimmable LED unit number light illuminates the address or suite number so clients and couriers find the entrance on the first try, and its five colour temperatures match the sign and the façade. Around the door, the 3CCT 120-347V outdoor LED cylinder, on the wall or in the ceiling of a canopy, lights the threshold, while the 10, 14 or 18 inch bidirectional outdoor wall fixtures draw upward and downward beams on the façade.
Reception and corridors: linear LED wall sconces
The reception area is the first impression a visitor keeps of your offices. LED wall light fixtures add ambient light there that highlights an accent wall, a sign or a texture. Slot or oval linear sconces, in 20 or 24 inches, light a corridor without crowding the ceiling, and the 48 in backlit linear wall sconce creates a halo on the wall behind a reception desk or in a waiting room. These 3CCT models let you choose the tone that matches the rest of the office.
Indoor LED strip: reception counter, shelves and glass partitions
LED strip adds a layer of light that ceiling fixtures cannot provide: under the edge of a reception counter, under the shelves of a meeting room bookcase, along a glass partition or in a ceiling bulkhead. Indoor LED strips come in fixed white or tunable white depending on the zone, and an aluminum profile protects them while making the line uniform. With our Custom Builder, you describe your project zone by zone and receive a quote matched to your lengths, strip cut and soldered.
Sensors and dimmers: lighting only the rooms in use
In an office, many rooms sit empty part of the day: meeting rooms, storage rooms, kitchenettes. LED dimmers and controllers adjust the output to the activity, and a 12-24V movement detector turns the strip lines on as someone walks in, then off once the room is empty. For 0-10V dimmable fixtures, plan separate circuits by zone: you can then lower a conference room during a projection without switching it off, or reduce the rows near the windows.
Which LED workplace lighting for which room
The choice is made room by room. Here is the most common match:
- Open-plan area: 3CCT 0-10V dimmable linear pendant, in rows over the clusters.
- Meeting room: 4' bidirectional pendant, for the table and the ceiling.
- Reception: 48 in backlit sconce behind the counter, strip under the edge.
- Corridors: 20 or 24 in slot or oval linear sconces.
- Entrance: 5CCT unit number light, outdoor cylinder, bidirectional wall fixtures.
The base light, for its part, comes from ceiling LED panels under a suspended ceiling and LED ceiling downlights in drywall. Two sister pages detail it: office lighting, zone by zone, and LED troffer, for replacing fluorescents in the grid.
Technical tips for LED workplace lighting
Align the pendants with the clusters. A row centred on the room but offset from the desks leaves the screens in shadow or in reflection.
Set the 3CCT once, the same everywhere. A pendant in 4000K next to a sconce in 3000K shows; the tone is set at installation.
Bidirectional needs a light-coloured ceiling. The indirect share is lost on a dark or very high ceiling; direct alone does better there.
One 0-10V circuit per zone to be dimmed. Windows, back of the room, screen: each zone you want to lower separately has its own control wire.
The sensor faces the door. It must see the person coming in, not the back wall, so the light comes on before the first step.

LED workplace lighting FAQ
Which LED workplace lighting suits an open-plan area?
The 3CCT 0-10V dimmable linear pendant, hung in rows aligned with the workstation clusters. Its 4000K neutral white supports concentration, and its dimming lets you lower the rows near the windows.
Direct or bidirectional pendant: which one to choose?
The bidirectional lights the table and the ceiling: it reduces the cave effect and softens the contrast around screens, which makes it the choice for meeting rooms and high ceilings. Direct alone is enough when the ceiling is dark or when you want a more discreet line.
What is 3CCT on a fixture for?
The fixture carries three colour temperatures, and the installer picks the right one at the time of installation, without changing models. It is handy for matching a pendant, a sconce and an entrance cylinder on the same tone.
How do you light the entrance of an office building?
A unit number light for the address, an outdoor cylinder on the wall or in the canopy ceiling for the threshold, and 10, 14 or 18 inch bidirectional wall fixtures for the façade. All in the same tone as the sign.
Do you need motion sensors in an office?
In rooms that sit empty part of the day, yes: storage rooms, kitchenettes, meeting rooms. The 12-24V detector turns the strip lines on as someone walks in and off afterwards. For a complete project, contact our team with your plans.
