LED OFFICE LIGHTS
Office lighting is never designed as a single block. Workstations need uniform, glare-free light, the meeting room must dim during a presentation, the reception area greets clients and the corridors lead to the emergency exits. Light that is too cold, too intense or poorly diffused ends in eye strain and headaches. LEDCO supplies the panels, recessed lights, tracks and emergency lighting for every zone, from a small professional practice to a large commercial floor, across Canada.
Workstations: 1x4, 2x2 or 2x4 LED panel in the suspended ceiling
In a T-bar suspended ceiling, LED panels take the place of old fluorescent fixtures without any change to the structure. The 2x2 and 2x4 formats cover open areas, while the narrower 1x4 LED panel neatly follows a row of workstations or a long, closed office. Its three wattages, 25W, 30W and 36W, let you adjust the amount of light to the room rather than adding fixtures. The 2x4 LED panel (36W, 40W or 45W) and the 2x2 panel (30W, 36W or 40W) round out the range, with a 0-10V dimming option to connect the lighting to a control system.
Visual comfort at the screen: UGR, lux and tone
Three numbers guide the choice for computer workstations. Glare first: aim for a UGR of 19 or less, which diffusing panels deliver better than point sources above the screens. Quantity next: at least 500 lux on the work plane, the reference value for office work. Tone last: in 4000K neutral white, the light supports attention without feeling clinical, whereas 6500K makes a cold, tiring floor. For reviewing visual material or design work, choose a CRI of 90 or more; elsewhere, 80 or more is suitable.
Private and executive offices: 10W-18W linear downlight and trimless DLT 4"
When the ceiling is drywall rather than tiles, the 10W-18W linear LED recessed light draws a clean line above an executive desk, a counter or a hallway, in line with the workstations. In an executive office or a meeting room, the DLT 4" trimless LED recessed light, round or square, blends into the ceiling: you see the light, not the fixture. For general lighting in closed rooms, the 10W-40W round commercial LED recessed light covers a wide wattage range, so you can keep the same model from a small office to a training room.
The meeting room: dim to present
Plan a dimmer in the conference room: low light during a presentation, full intensity for work. Depending on the model, dimming is 0-10V or TRIAC. Variable colour temperature (CCT) LED recessed lights add flexibility: 5000K for precision, 4000K for everyday work, 3000K for a more relaxed corner.
The reception area: track spotlights and a suspended profile
At the reception desk, LED track spotlights highlight the logo, the counter or a display wall. Each spotlight slides and swivels on the track, so the lighting can follow a layout change without construction work. For a more design-driven office, a suspended aluminum profile fitted with LED strip draws a continuous line above a cluster of workstations or a large table; with the Custom Builder, the strip is prepared to the length you need, which avoids cutting on site. Corridors and exits: LED emergency lighting
In commercial spaces and offices, emergency lighting is required by the Building Code. LEDCO offers the most common LED emergency lights: "running man" emergency exit signs in plastic or metal, in standard or combo versions, battery emergency lights, and single or double remote heads to extend coverage in corridors and stairwells. Have your electrician confirm the location and number of units based on the floor plan.
Office lighting zone by zone
The plan fits in five lines. Each zone has its fixture and its setting:
- Open area: 2x2 or 2x4 panels, 4000K, UGR 19 or less, 0-10V dimming.
- Private offices: linear or round recessed light in the drywall, same tone as the open area.
- Meeting room: CCT recessed lights on a dimmer, two circuits if the room is also used for training.
- Reception: adjustable track spotlights, a suspended profile above the counter.
- Corridors and exits: "running man" signs, remote heads, battery emergency lights.
Two sister pages go further. The LED troffer page covers replacing fluorescents in the grid, and the LED workplace lighting page covers pendants, sconces and the building entrance.
Technical tips for LED office lighting
One colour temperature per floor. 4000K throughout, open areas and private offices included; keep CCT for rooms that change use.
Align the panels with the rows of desks. A panel running across a screen reflects in it; the 1x4 follows the row, the 2x2 sits centred between two desks.
Separate the circuits near the windows. The rows along the façade dim at midday without touching the back of the floor.
Choose the dimmer with the fixture. 0-10V or TRIAC depending on the recessed model; check compatibility before buying, not after.
Emergency lighting is laid out on the plan. The number and location of units are confirmed with the electrician from the floor plan.

Office lighting FAQ
What is the best LED office lighting for workstations?
LED panels in the suspended ceiling, in 4000K, with a UGR of 19 or less and at least 500 lux on the work plane. The 1x4 follows a row of desks, the 2x2 and 2x4 cover open areas. 0-10V dimming then lets you connect everything to sensors.
Which colour temperature for an office?
4000K neutral white remains the safe choice: crisp enough for concentration, without the coldness of 6500K. 5000K is kept for precision tasks, 3000K for a relaxed corner or a waiting room.
How many lux do you need on a desk?
At least 500 lux on the work plane for everyday office work. You get there with the right panel wattage and spacing, and our team can provide photometric calculations on request from your plan.
Is emergency lighting mandatory in an office?
Yes, the Building Code requires it in commercial spaces and offices: exit signs, battery emergency lights and remote heads in corridors and stairwells. The location and number of units are confirmed with your electrician.
How do I get a complete project quoted?
Send us the floor area, the ceiling type and your compliance requirements: our team helps you choose the fixtures for each zone and can produce photometric calculations. Contact LEDCO to discuss it with an advisor.
