LED SPORT FIELD LIGHTS
LED stadium lights face one of the most demanding jobs in lighting: high illuminance levels, tall poles, large surfaces and strict glare control, for players and spectators alike. LEDCO offers floodlights designed for sports fields, from 300 W to 1000 W, standard floodlights for rinks and courts, and high bays for covered fields, all in 120-347 V, along with the controls that let you light only what is in use.
700 W to 1000 W stadium lights: large fields and tall poles
For a soccer or football field lit from tall poles, the 700W-800W-900W-1000W sports field LED floodlight is the most powerful model in our range. The higher the wattage per floodlight, the more easily target levels are reached from a great height, which reduces the number of poles and civil engineering costs. The beam angle matters as much as the wattage: a narrow beam for distant zones, a medium beam for the centre of the field.
300 W to 600 W floodlight: municipal fields, tennis and baseball
For municipal fields, tennis courts and recreational baseball diamonds, the 300W-400W-500W-600W sports field LED floodlight is a good starting point. Both models are part of our high-power LED floodlights, in 120-347 V, which avoids an additional transformer on 347 V institutional circuits. For mounting to the pole or structure, see our brackets for LED floodlights.
Outdoor rinks and neighbourhood courts: standard floodlights
A neighbourhood rink, a basketball court or a training area does not need the power of a stadium. The 200W-240W-300W LED floodlight and the 400W-450W-500W LED floodlight install on shorter poles or on a nearby building: they are the basis of good outdoor rink lighting. Our full range of standard LED floodlights goes down to 30 W to 150 W models for the surroundings, parking lots and paths leading to the field.
Arenas and covered fields: LED high bays
Indoors, arenas and covered fields are lit with LED high bays. The 240W-270W-300W UFO high bay suits large high-ceiling volumes, while the 320W-360W-400W linear high bay lines up in rows above the playing surface. A wide optic favours uniformity, which matters more here than peak intensity, and limits glare for players following a ball or a puck with their eyes.
How many lux for which sport
In sports field lighting, requirements vary by sport and level of play. The targets at ground level:
- Municipal soccer in the evening: a minimum of about 200 lux.
- Recreational football: 300 to 500 lux.
- Recreational baseball: about 500 lux in the infield versus 300 lux in the outfield.
- Tennis: 300 to 500 lux depending on the level, with particular care against glare.
- Filmed or broadcast matches: 750 to 1,000 lux, with strict uniformity.
These values give the order of magnitude for planning; the number of floodlights and their positions are confirmed by a photometric calculation, which our team can prepare for your field.
Bluetooth 0-10V controls: light only what is in use
A field booked for two hours does not need to stay lit all evening. With 0-10V dimmable fixtures, to be checked on each model's spec sheet, you lower the power between games and set each zone according to the activity. LEDCO offers the Bluetooth 0-10V wireless fixture controller and the Bluetooth 0-10V power pack with 20A relay in 120-347 V, as well as PIR Bluetooth sensors for LED high bays for covered fields.
Replacing metal halide or sodium floodlights
Many fields are still lit by old metal halide or sodium floodlights. Switching those stadium lights to LED can often be done on the same poles, once the mounting has been checked: you replace the floodlight and keep the structure. Another difference that matters day to day: an LED floodlight reaches full output at switch-on, with no warm-up time. You can switch off between two bookings and switch back on without waiting, which is what makes 0-10V controls and sensors worthwhile.
Technical tips for outdoor sports lighting
Uniformity before intensity. A player moving from a bright zone to a dark one loses sight of the ball; even light beats a peak in the centre.
Aim at the field, not the neighbours' yards. On a field surrounded by homes, point every floodlight at the playing surface.
Mix the beams. A narrow beam reaches the distant zones, a medium beam covers the centre of the field.
Take advantage of 347 V. On an institutional circuit, a 120-347 V floodlight connects without an additional transformer.
Light the surroundings too. The parking lot and the path to the field are part of the safety of players and spectators.

Sports Field Lighting FAQ
How many lux do soccer field lights need to deliver?
For municipal soccer in the evening, the target is a minimum of about 200 lux at ground level. A complex hosting filmed or broadcast matches requires 750 to 1,000 lux, with strict uniformity.
Which floodlights for an outdoor rink?
A neighbourhood rink is well lit with standard floodlights of 200 W to 500 W, mounted on short poles or on the nearby building. A wide optic and floodlights spread along both sides avoid dark patches on the ice.
What wattage of stadium lights for an outdoor tennis court?
The 300 W to 600 W sports field floodlight is a good starting point for a recreational court. The target is 300 to 500 lux depending on the level, with floodlights aimed so the source is never in the player's line of sight.
How do I avoid lighting up the neighbourhood?
By aiming every floodlight at the playing surface and choosing the right beam: narrow to reach far, medium for the centre. A taller pole also allows a steeper angle, which keeps the light on the field.
Can I get a quote for a complete field?
Yes. Contact our team with the field dimensions, the pole height and the sport played: we will prepare the quote and the photometric calculation for your field, arena or sports complex.
