OUTDOOR LED FLOODLIGHTS
Powerful outdoor LED floodlights are justified when the surface to cover is large: a parking lot, a factory yard, a trailer lot, the façade of a big building or a sports field. For everything else, a medium floodlight or a wall pack does better and glares less. LEDCO gathers those large surfaces on this page: the high power LED floodlight family, full cut-off wall packs for the perimeter, the LED canopy light for covered docks, and the brackets to mount them on a pole or a wall.
Parking lot and industrial yard: the high power family
Our outdoor LED floodlights fall into two families. The standard LED floodlights cover the driveway, the backyard and the small parking lot; the high power LED floodlights take over when a large parking lot, a manoeuvring yard or a playing field has to be lit from a pole. That second family is what people have in mind when they talk about powerful outdoor LED floodlights, and it is the one we detail here, surface by surface.
Which surface, which floodlight
The right question is not "how many watts?" but "which surface, from what height?". Here is how we steer a project:
- Retail or office parking lot: high power floodlights on poles, aimed at the traffic lanes.
- Factory yard and trailer lot: high power floodlights on the wall or a pole, completed by wall packs at the doors.
- Façade of a large building: ground-mounted floodlight or wall washer, depending on whether you want to flood or to draw.
- Sports field: sports field floodlights on tall poles, planned with a plan of the field.
- Covered loading dock: LED canopy light on the ceiling of the canopy.
- Doors and staff entrances: a wall pack, not a floodlight.
Mounting height and aiming: pole, wall or bracket
Powerful outdoor LED floodlights light better the higher they are and the more they tilt toward the area to cover, never toward the horizon. At the top of a pole, one covers a whole parking lot; fixed to the wall of a warehouse, it lights the manoeuvring yard; set on the ground, it climbs a façade. Our brackets for LED floodlights fix it to a wall, the ground or a pole, and our LED pole lights category covers the cases where the fixture and its pole are chosen together. A site plan with the available heights lets us propose the number and position of the units.
Perimeter and service façades: full cut-off and standard wall packs
Around the building, a powerful floodlight is not always the right answer. LED wall packs mount on the wall and light the traffic strip along the façade. The 80 W-100 W-120 W full cut-off LED wall pack directs all of its light to the ground, with no light toward the sky or the neighbours; the 75 W-90 W-105 W-120 W standard LED wall pack reaches farther across an open yard. Both are 120 V-347 V, which suits commercial and industrial buildings.
Covered docks and canopies: the LED canopy light
Under a canopy, a covered loading dock or a sheltered passage, an aimed floodlight would sit in the truck drivers' line of sight. The 120 V-347 V LED canopy light mounts on the ceiling and lights downward; it is selectable at 25 W, 40 W or 60 W and in three shades of white, from the warmest for an entrance to the coolest for a dock. Our LED canopy category gathers these models.
Highlighting rather than flooding: wall washers and wall fixtures
A stone or brick façade does not necessarily call for power: it calls for even, grazing light. LED wall washers, such as the 60 W RGBW LED wall washer #WW1, bathe a wall from top to bottom and can go from white to a brand or seasonal colour. For a main entrance, LED wall light fixtures, including the 3CCT 120-347 V outdoor LED cylinder, give a welcoming light without glare.
Technical tips for powerful outdoor LED floodlights
Start from the surface, not the watts. And from the height: two well-placed medium floodlights often light better than one very powerful floodlight that leaves shadow zones.
Tilt toward the ground, never toward the horizon. A floodlight aimed too high dazzles drivers and lights the sky instead of the parking lot.
Full cut-off along the property lines. Near a neighbour or a residential street, a full cut-off wall pack keeps the light on your side.
Check the voltage of the outdoor circuit. The wall packs and the canopy light accept 120 V as well as 347 V; confirm what your panel distributes before ordering.
Plan the bracket with the floodlight. Wall, ground or pole: the bracket decides the angle, and the angle decides the result.
Contact LEDCO with a plan of your parking lot or industrial site and the available mounting heights: we will propose the number of floodlights, their family and the right brackets. For a residential property or colour on a façade, our page on outdoor LED floodlights covers the small formats and 24 V.

Powerful outdoor LED floodlights FAQ
What is the best outdoor LED floodlight for a parking lot?
The one that covers your lanes from the pole height you have, without dazzling drivers. For a large parking lot, that is a model from the high power family mounted on a pole; for a small retail lot, a standard floodlight on the wall is often enough. Send us the plan: the answer depends on the surface and the height, not on a single model.
One very powerful floodlight or several medium ones?
Several medium floodlights, in most cases. The light is more even, the shadows cast by vehicles are softer, and one failure does not black out the whole yard. A single very powerful floodlight makes sense when there is only one possible mounting point.
How do I avoid dazzling the neighbours with powerful outdoor LED floodlights?
By tilting them toward the ground and mounting them high, so the beam lands on your property instead of travelling horizontally. Along the property lines, a full cut-off wall pack, which lets nothing escape upward, is a better choice than an aimed floodlight.
What do I mount a powerful floodlight on?
On a wall, on the ground or on a pole, with the bracket made for each case in our brackets for LED floodlights category. When the pole does not exist yet, LED pole lights let you choose the fixture and its pole together.
What is the difference between a wall pack and a floodlight?
The wall pack mounts flat on the wall and lights the strip along the building; the floodlight is aimed and carries its light farther, over an open surface. For doors, entrances and the perimeter, the wall pack; for the parking lot and the yard, the floodlight.
